Let’s Keep Singing and Dancing Until the Right People Gather
I see myself as a rookie singer who has just stepped onto the stage for the first time. I haven’t proven anything yet, and I’m meeting countless customers—audience members—for the very first time. Like all newcomers, I constantly feel just how much I still have to learn and improve.
Many people worry about my health. They ask if I’m getting any sleep, if I’m taking care of myself. Every time, I remind myself: I’m like a singer with no choice but to perform. I’ve only just stepped onto the stage—I have to dance, and I have to sing. I spent years practicing in a basement studio for this very moment, and now is not the time to rest.
Thankfully, there are people who see my sincerity. There are customer companies who trust in me. Thanks to them, I get to dance with joy. I used to watch from the sidelines, wondering when my time would come—now that I finally have this chance, I’m giving it everything I’ve got.
I have a dream. My dream is to build a great company.
And to do that, the first thing I had to ask myself was: What exactly makes a company great? Not just vaguely “good,” but clearly, tangibly great. So I made a list:
- A company where labor is fairly rewarded
- A company where irrational things don’t happen
- A company where communication and common sense thrive
- A company that stays far away from shameful behavior
- A company you can proudly talk about to your parents, siblings, and children
- A company where the senior members are people you want to become
- A company no one wants to leave
- A company where you’d be happy to spend your whole career
Of course, I have more items on that list—but I think a truly great company can be summed up in one phrase:
A place where people want to work.
That phrase might sound strange. Most people would rather rest than work. Maybe when you’re job hunting, you say you want to work—but even then, it’s often just because you need an income. While many people and companies see work as just a means to survive, I want to build a company where the work itself is something people want to do. Because it’s meaningful. Because it’s fun. Because building and running it is exciting. Because the people you do it with make it worthwhile. Because you can see that your work contributes something good to the world. There are countless reasons to want to work at a place like that.
To me, this long-awaited stage is my chance to build that kind of company. I want to meet good people, create a great team, build a sustainable business model, and contribute to society through the company we grow. Ultimately, I want to create a space so joyful that no one’s in a rush to go home.
Right now, I’m living with the mindset of a singer who’s just stepped onto the stage. I’m being invited to different venues, meeting veteran performers, singing with them, dancing beside them. My legs may tremble at night, and I may come home with no energy left to do anything but stare into space—but still, I’m filled with gratitude for this moment. Even if I make mistakes, even if I sometimes disappoint the audience, I believe that if I live and work with sincerity, I’ll reach the destination I’ve been chasing: the great company I’ve dreamed of building.
