In the movie Oppenheimer, Jean Tatlock, Oppenheimer's former lover, abruptly stops while they are having sex. During this interlude, Oppenheimer explains to her the reason he studied Jungian psychoanalysis. When Oppenheimer confesses, "I tried to poison my tutor. Because I respected him," Tatlock responds:
"You just needed to get laid." (You just needed more sex.)."
Upon hearing this, Oppenheimer remarks that her assessment is far more lucid than that of the therapist he had been seeing for two years. I completely agree. One would be far better off having more sex than spending time meeting with a therapist.
Humans are animals. Furthermore, we are highly social animals. No matter how much someone claims to enjoy solitude, they still crave communication with others and constantly observe their peers. Is that all? We desire to be loved. We also desire to love. The reason many people prioritize their child above everything else in life after giving birth is because they have encountered a being they love more than themselves. This is why countless parents prioritize the food and clothing of their infants over their own, feeling fully satisfied merely by watching their children eat.
Human beings require an object of affection; we must love and be loved to achieve true happiness. Why do people feel hollow, anxious, and unacknowledged despite achieving so much? It is because they lack sex. To be precise, they lack genuine sex that involves sharing true love.
No matter how many prostitutes one calls upon to share intimacy, because there is no love within that act, the conclusion is as bitter and dry as inhaled cigarette smoke. It is no different from purchasing a temporary hallucination equivalent to the stacks of cash handed over to them. The aftermath is invariably hollow. It is akin to drinking seawater to quench one's thirst. Even if you inject pure pleasure directly into the brain via a syringe, it can never result in a fulfilling life. This is because the most vital necessity for a human being is absent. It is a life starved of love, unable to give or receive it.
If your life is miserable, you must seriously ask yourself whether what you truly need is sex. If both sex and love are already sufficient, only then should you begin searching for other causes. For something else must be grating against you, like a tiny loose thread on a garment that constantly irritates your nerves, preventing you from feeling whole.
On the other hand, if your life is perfectly equipped with wealth, power, time, and status, yet you still feel inexplicably hollow, you might simply be failing to have proper sex. Are you perhaps living a life where you neither love anyone nor receive any love in return?
The necessary conditions for life are sometimes remarkably simple. Everyone needs people, and everyone needs love. To deny this is equivalent to making foolish proclamations like, "I can remain healthy without sleep," or "I stay perfectly fine without drinking water." I wish for you to have more sex, and I wish for you to be loved.
